Sailing the Caldera with Captain Yiannis, BBQ and Greek Wine
Captain Yiannis and his crew are sailors by trade, and the boat goes out of Vlychada, the small round harbour on the south coast where the fishing boats and the sailboats shelter together. The route runs past the Red Beach, where the boat slows down so people can photograph it, red being the dominant colour there in a way that is close to unique. Then the White Beach, a small cove of white pebbles under tall white cliffs, with pumice and grey volcanic sand mixed through it and some shade. Palea Kameni sits inside the caldera, an island built by a run of eruptions that left deposits of pumice and dacite. On the way to the caldera the Akrotiri lighthouse passes on the shore. A French company built it in 1892, which makes it one of the oldest in Greece. Between the stops there is swimming, snorkelling and time in the sun, and the food on board is a BBQ with Greek wines.

Barca Sailing
The marina at Vlychada, a small round harbour where the sailboats, speedboats and fishing boats of the settlement all shelter together.
Red Beach
The Red Beach, near Akrotiri village, is one of the most striking on the island and close to unique anywhere: red is the dominant colour of the whole thing. The boat slows in front of it so you can take photographs.
White Beach
What makes Santorini particular is its geology, and White Beach is a clear case of it. White pebbles in a small cove under tall white cliffs, with partial shade. The beach itself is pumice stones and grey volcanic sand and pebbles, like the rest of the island's beaches.
Palea Kameni
Palea Kameni, a volcanic island inside the Santorini caldera, built by a run of eruptions that left thick deposits of pumice and dacite.
