3 Days and 2 Nights Summit Via Sembalun

Three days, two nights, and the full circuit: up from Sembalun village, the summit, down to Segara Anak lake and the hot springs, over to the Senaru crater rim, out at Senaru village. What separates this package from the other three-day Rinjani trips is what happens if the second night at the Senaru rim is not possible. Rather than cancelling the night, the operator moves the camp down to the lake and takes the walk out through Torean instead. A different valley, a different village at the end, and the trek stays three days. The lake sits in the crater with the hot springs beside it. Bathing is part of the schedule rather than a detour, and the water is used locally for skin conditions. The second camp goes up in the crater itself, close enough to see smoke coming out of the vent of the new volcano in the lake. The summit is the second highest mountain in Indonesia. From the top: Lombok end to end, Bali across the strait, Sumbawa the other way, and the lake below. The last day comes down through tropical rainforest. Bookings are final and cancellations are not refunded.

  2. Sembalun Village

Senaru village, then Sembalun village at 1,150 m, then up to the Sembalun crater rim, Pelawangan Sembalun, at 2,639 m. Three hours of walking, with one long steep section that does not let up. The night is spent camping on the rim. From there, sunset and then sunrise the next morning, with Segara Anak lake below, Sembalun village behind, and the summit of Rinjani standing to the north of Lombok.

  3. Mount Rinjani

From the summit: the whole of Lombok, Bali, Sumbawa, and Segara Anak lake. Down at the lake there are the hot springs, water used locally to treat skin conditions, and swimming a hundred metres from the shore. Sunset from up here goes down behind Mount Agung on Bali, and from the camp by the lake you can see smoke coming out of the vent of the new volcano. Dinner is eaten here.

    Costo extra

  4. Mount Rinjani National Park

Breakfast, sunrise, and the lake in the morning light, then the descent to Senaru village: four to five hours. The break and lunch fall on the stretch between Post 1 and Post Extra, and the walk finishes at the Senaru Rinjani Trekking Centre between 12.30 and 13.00.
