Red Beach or White, Weather Deciding: Caldera Sailing with Lunch

SantoriniOne stop on this trip is decided by the weather rather than the itinerary. The boat puts in at either the Red Beach or the White Beach, for 20 to 30 minutes. The White Beach can only be reached by boat, so if the sea allows it, that is the one to hope for. The rest of the route runs past the old Venetian lighthouse and the Indian Head mountain, then into the caldera itself and its two burnt islands: Palea Kameni, the old one, and Nea Kameni, the new one, where the warm springs come up. There is a swim in the hot springs and a snorkelling session, with masks on board. Lunch or dinner is Greek and served on board, with local wine or beer. The group is small and the seats are limited. When you book you choose between the day tour and the sunset tour. This is the original sailing tour on the island.

Red Beach
The Red Beach, on the south coast.
White Beach
The White Beach, which can only be reached by boat. Depending on the weather the stop is at either the Red or the White Beach, for about 20 to 30 minutes.
Lighthouse
The old Venetian lighthouse and the Indian Head mountain, both better seen from the water than from the road.
Palea Kameni
The Old Burnt Island, one of the two volcanic islands inside the caldera.
Nea Kameni
The New Burnt Island, the other volcanic island in the caldera, where the warm springs come up out of the volcano.
