Private Catamaran from Vlychada, Hot Springs and BBQ Aboard
The boat is yours for the day, and it leaves from Vlychada on the south coast rather than from the caldera ports, which is why the first half of the route is the quiet side of Santorini. Hotel pick-up is included, in an air-conditioned vehicle, from wherever you are staying, and the same car takes you back at the end. The sailing goes past the Red Beach, where you can swim and snorkel under the red cliffs, then the White Beach and its white volcanic rock, the Akrotiri lighthouse, which is one of the oldest in Greece, and the Akrotiri coast, which is emptier than the north. Nea Kameni comes after that: the hot springs beside the volcano, warm and full of minerals, and on a private boat you swim there without a crowd. Then the caldera itself, with the villages along the cliff top and the blue domes above the water. Mesa Pigadia is where the boat anchors for the long stop. Swimming and snorkelling in the clearest water on this coast, then the BBQ: grilled chicken, fillet fish, seafood, rice, pasta with Santorini tomato sauce, fresh salads and traditional dips. Wine, beer and soft drinks are unlimited throughout. There is an upgrade if you want it, with lobster, fresh fish, squid and a bottle of Moët & Chandon, €400 for up to four guests, arranged on request. Two things worth knowing. The captain sets the route on the day around the weather and the sea, so hidden coves, Thirasia, White Island and the seal caves are possibilities rather than promises, and not all of them fit into one trip. And the departure time changes what you get: mornings are bright over the caldera, evenings end in the sunset.

There is a mini market in the middle of the marina, and the hostess waits there. Leave a phone number when you book, it makes finding each other easier.
Santorini
Pick-up from your hotel, anywhere on the island, in an air-conditioned vehicle, with the island going past the window on the way to the marina. Once aboard, the day runs at whatever pace you want: swimming, snorkelling, stopping where you feel like stopping. The route and the stops are settled with the captain, who works to the sea conditions on the day.
Vlychada
The cruise starts at Vlychada Marina, where the cliffs behind the port look lunar. You meet the crew, board the catamaran and cast off.
Red Beach
Swimming and snorkelling at the Red Beach, under the red cliffs it is named for. Clear water, and the stop most people photograph.
White Beach
Past the White Beach, named for the white volcanic cliffs above it. Seen from the deck rather than landed on.
Akrotiri Lighthouse
Past the Akrotiri lighthouse, one of the oldest in Greece, with the southern coastline of the island alongside.
Santorini Caldera - Southern Panorama View
Sailing the Akrotiri coast, under volcanic cliffs and rock formations cut by the island's own history. This is the southern side, quieter than the north and far less visited, and the deck is the place to be for it.
Nea Kameni
Swimming near the volcano, in the warm mineral-rich water the volcanic activity produces. On a private boat this stop is not shared with the large groups, so you can stay in as long as you like.
Santorini Caldera - Southern Panorama View
Sailing towards the caldera, with the volcanic cliffs above and the white villages along the top of them, blue domes included. The volcano is ahead the whole way in.
Mesa Pigadia Beach
The boat anchors here for the longest stop of the day. The water is the clearest on this coast and there are fish to see, with volcanic cliffs standing over the anchorage. After the swim comes the BBQ: grilled chicken, fillet fish, seafood, rice, pasta with Santorini tomato sauce, fresh salads and traditional dips. Wine, beer and soft drinks are unlimited for the whole trip. There is an upgrade on request: lobster, fresh fish, squid and a bottle of Moët & Chandon, €400 for up to four guests.
Vlychada
Back to Vlychada, with the island from the water on the way in. A morning departure gets the caldera and the coast in full daylight; an evening one gets the sunset. Dolphins sometimes follow the boat.
Santorini
The same vehicle takes you back to wherever you were collected from, which ends the day without anyone having to find a taxi.
Thirasia
Thirasia can be added if the day allows. Sailing time, weather and distance mean not every stop fits into one trip, and the captain decides what is possible. A direct run to Thirasia can be arranged if you raise it at the start of the cruise.
