Volcano, Chocolate and Waterfalls of the Big Island

Two halves that have no business being in the same day, and work anyway. The first is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, with guides certified by the park itself. The subject is what changed: the collapse of the Halemaumau Crater was historically large, and it reshaped Kilauea permanently. What you are looking at is a new landscape, not the one in older photographs. The second is a private farm of 1,000 acres growing cacao and tropical fruit. The chocolate part is interactive and runs the whole way from the tree to the finished chocolate, which is a process most people have eaten the end of without ever seeing the start. The farm has its own waterfall, secluded, and the day winds down beside it. Pick-up runs from several points across the Kona and Waikoloa side, and each one asks for a 15-minute window for the driver to arrive.

  2. Hilo

A 1,000-acre chocolate and tropical fruit farm, with the chocolate-making explained from the tree onwards. The farm's own waterfall, secluded, is where the day winds down.
