Kayaking Among the Icebergs on the Solheimajokull Lagoon
A kayak on a glacier lagoon, between icebergs that have broken off the ice above. This lagoon is not the one on every itinerary. It sits at the foot of Sólheimajökull and it stays quiet, which changes the character of being out on it: from a kayak what you hear is ice moving and water against the hull, and neither carries far when there is a coach park nearby. No experience is needed. The paddling is on flat water. The base is the Sólheimajökull car park, 2.5 hours from Reykjavík by Road 1 and then Road 221. Be there 30 minutes before departure.

Be at the meeting point 30 minutes before departure. The base is the Solheimajokull car park, 2.5 hours from Reykjavik. Take Road 1 along the South Coast, then turn left onto Road 221, and the starting point is about five minutes further on.
