Hiking the First Months of the Timanfaya Eruption, from Tinguatón

The walk goes among the volcanoes and the lava flows that the first months of the Timanfaya eruption left behind. A professional guide leads it, and nobody spends the day looking through a bus window. What comes out of doing it on foot is the scale, which does not read from a road: cones one after another, and flows that stopped where they stopped. It is one of the strangest pieces of volcanic ground anywhere. The meeting point is a car park beside the road that runs up to Tinguatón. There are a few small palm trees and a wooden table, which is how you know you are in the right place.
