Sao MiguelTwo things in one day: a trek, and a swim with a mask. The walking is the harder half. The paths lead to places worth the climb, and there are obstacles on the way that have to be got over rather than walked round, so it asks something of you. The snorkelling is the other half, in the water off São Miguel. The guide lives here, which is the reason the route goes where it goes rather than where the coaches go. The meeting point is in front of the tourism office in Ponta Delgada. Anyone being collected from a hotel should be in the lobby five minutes before.
