A Private Jeep on São Miguel, Planned in the First 20 Minutes

The day starts with a conversation. For the first 15 to 20 minutes the guide asks what you want out of the island and then says what will fit, because the distances on São Miguel decide more than people expect and the plan has to be built around the time available. Four full days are suggested as starting points: Sete Cidades with Mosteiros, Sete Cidades with the Lagoa do Fogo, the Nordeste, or Furnas. What can go into any of them: pineapple plantations, tea fields, small traditional liquor factories, off-road tracks through the mountains and the volcanoes, lagoons and waterfalls. Lunch is at a restaurant you choose. The jeep is private, so nothing is shared and nothing runs to a timetable. The guide is local, and what they cover takes in the culture and the history as much as the ground. The meeting point is near the Ponta Delgada tourism station.
