Haleakala Summit and 15 Miles Down: Park Entry Included, Riders from 12
This is the version that goes into the park before it comes down the mountain. Entry to Haleakala National Park is included, and the summit area is toured first. The ride is 15 miles from 6,500 feet on custom Kona bikes, with stops built in: for the view, for a casual breakfast, and for the historic town of Makawao on the way down. Included with it: NAI certified guides, park admission, KONA mountain bikes, DAKINE backpacks, Helly Hansen rain gear and Bell helmets. Bring closed-toe shoes, layers, a sweatshirt or jacket, a knit cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, water, snacks and a camera. The hat is not decoration: the summit is cold. Riders must be 12 or older, which is three years younger than the Express version takes, over 4'10", under 270 lb, with recent riding experience and the fitness for a long descent. Not for anyone pregnant or on medication that causes drowsiness. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory. Meet at the shop in the historic Haiku Marketplace, 810 Haiku Road. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.
