BanyuwangiThe blue flames at Ijen burn before dawn, and nowhere else on earth shows them. The walk starts from the campsite at Paltuding and goes up with a guide. After the flames, the route carries on to the summit for sunrise over the crater lake, which is turquoise and acidic in equal measure. The guides cover the geology as the light comes, and the work of the sulphur miners who use the same path every night.

Banyuwangi
Pick-up from your accommodation in Banyuwangi city and the meeting with your guide. From there it is about 1 hour 30 minutes to the starting point at the Paltuding campsite.
Ijen Crater Indonesia
A briefing before setting off, then the climb with the guide to the blue fire. From there the route carries on to the summit of Mount Ijen for sunrise, over the largest acidic crater in the world. Then back down to the starting point, and the drive to the accommodation in Banyuwangi.
