Etna, Wine and Alcantara from Taormina: the Gorges Seen from Above

A full day from Taormina, starting at Porta Catania, with pick-up at your accommodation or an agreed point in town. The walking part happens at the Monti Sartorius, a line of side craters on the flank of the volcano. A lava cave is part of the day too, and the guide covers the colours of Etna, which change with the age of the ground: black where a flow is recent, grey and then green where the older ones have had time to break down into soil. Lunch is typical Sicilian, with a wine tasting. The Alcantara stop is at the Parco Fluviale, and the gorges get seen from the panoramic point rather than from the riverbed.
