Etna and Alcantara by 4x4, with a Tasting of Wines and Honeys

Two natural parks in a day, out of Catania, in a 4x4. The meeting is at 8:30 at Piazza dei Martiri, and the vehicle reaches Etna in under an hour. There you walk the trails between extinct craters, with the guide explaining how the plants and animals here adapted to volcanic ground, and why these slopes make good wine, which is the part most people arrive not expecting. The stop after that is at a local restaurant, for a tasting: liquors, wines, honeys and other things made nearby. The afternoon is the Alcantara Gorge Natural Park, where the river runs between high rock walls, and the guide covers the geology that cut them, which happened millions of years ago. Back at Piazza dei Martiri around 4:30 pm.
