Etna Trekking from Catania: the Day Is Planned with You Beforehand
A guided walk with no fixed schedule to keep up with. The times shown when you book are indicative, and the plan for the day gets agreed with the guide the day before, around the weather and around what you want out of it. The pace is unhurried. Walking slowly here is not a concession: it is how you start noticing which flows are old and which are recent, because that difference shows on the ground you cross. There is also the option of going high, either to 2,500 metres or to 2,900 metres. The only thing you pay on top is the Etna cable car ticket. From that altitude the scale of the mountain reads differently, and the craters below stop looking like features on a map. The meeting point is Piazza Stesicoro, in central Catania.
