Etna Summit Craters with a Cable-Car-Only Option to 2,500 m

Two versions of the same day, chosen at booking. The full one takes the cable car to 2,500 metres and then a 4x4 bus to 2,800, where a volcanological mountain guide takes over for the summit area. The shorter one stops at 2,500 and skips the transfer. At the top the craters left by the 2002 eruption are the first thing you see, and the smoking summit craters stand directly in front of you, with gas and sulphur coming off them. A naturalist guide accompanies the group from the start and, once back down, points out the parts of Etna that sit at lower altitude and usually get skipped. The day ends at a farm in Zafferana Etnea, with a tasting of local produce. There are three possible meeting points, and the details are agreed when you book.
