Etna at Sunset from Catania: Valle del Bove, a Lava Cave and 2,000 m

Pick-up is from your accommodation, though the operator limits that to hotels and B&Bs inside Catania. Anyone staying elsewhere starts from the car park before the Q8 station at Gravina di Catania. The guide walks the route with the group and covers where the volcano came from, how it has changed and what it is doing now, along with the plants and animals that live on it. The first stop is a viewpoint over the Valle del Bove. Then helmets and torches for a lava flow cave. At 2,000 metres the walking turns gentle, through craters both old and recent, on ground that looks like nowhere at sea level. The last thing on the itinerary is the sunset itself, watched from the mountain.
