Acatenango Overnight with OX: Pre-Trip Briefing the Day Before, Summit at Dawn
Plan for one extra appointment: the pre-trip meeting is at 3PM the day before you walk, at the OX Expeditions office a few blocks north west of the central park in Antigua. The day itself opens with breakfast and coffee at a local restaurant, included, then a minibus to the trailhead. From there the trail climbs Acatenango to base camp, reached around 2PM. The camp faces Fuego, which is the active one, and that is what people sit and watch from it. The second start is early: the summit of Acatenango is reached for sunrise, weather permitting. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.
