Rinjani in Four Days: a Night Beside the Crater Lake and Hours to Do Nothing
The fourth day on Rinjani does not add distance. It adds time, and the time is spent by the lake. The three-day packages reach Segara Anak and climb back out of the crater the same day. Here the camp goes up on the shore and the night is spent there, with hours the following morning that have nothing scheduled in them. Day 0 is a pick-up at any port on Lombok and the transfer to Senaru. If you get there at least two hours before sunset there is time for the Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep waterfalls. Day 1 crosses to Sembalun, registers at the park, and camps on the Sembalun crater rim. Day 2 is the summit, and afterwards the descent to the crater lake and the hot springs. Swimming in the lake, sitting in the spring water, and the second night on the shore. Day 3 climbs back up to the Senaru crater rim, which is the best place on the mountain to look at the lake. From there the choice is yours: stay for the sunset and sleep on the rim, or keep walking down and camp lower on the route. Day 4 finishes at Senaru between 11 and midday. Bookings are final and cancellations are not refunded.
