Etna Your Way, Then Taormina: Walk or Cable Car and 4x4
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
TaorminaOne day, two places, and one decision to make in the middle of it. At the Rifugio Sapienza the group splits by choice: a walk on the park trails with a local guide, or the high-altitude option, which is the cable car and then the 4x4 bus. Both put you on the volcano. They ask for different amounts of effort. Before that there is the Etna Park itself, the lava fields and the extinct craters, with the guides explaining what made them. A lava cave is part of the day, entered with a helmet and lamps, and so is a tasting of local honey, olive oil and other things made on these slopes. Then Taormina. The van stops above Isola Bella for the view down onto the reserve, and the rest is free time in the town: the alleys, the ancient theatre, the churches and the palaces, with a short guide to the monuments. The day is built to work for families.
