Haleakala signifie "la maison du soleil", et c'est pour cette raison que les gens mettent un réveil en pleine nuit à Maui. Un petit bus transporte le groupe jusqu'à 9 740 pieds, du côté est de l'île, près du sommet, pour admirer le lever du soleil. La montagne est le plus grand volcan éteint du monde, et le parc couvre plus de 30 000 acres. Deux espèces vivent ici, et dans peu d'autres endroits : le nene, l'oie hawaïenne, et l'argentifoli. La descente permet de retrouver les vues que l'obscurité cachait pendant la montée, sur Kula et vers le Pacifique. Le petit-déjeuner est ce qui distingue cette excursion des autres visites pour admirer le lever du soleil : un repas assis au Cafe O'Lei, à la Plantation de Waikapu, plutôt qu'une viennoiserie distribuée au sommet. Annule au moins 24 heures avant le départ pour obtenir un remboursement intégral.
