Miravalles : le seul cratère accessible à pied, et des boues classées par couleur

Plage de FlamingoMiravalles possède, selon les opérateurs, le seul cratère accessible à pied au Costa Rica, et la journée est organisée autour de cette expérience : fumée, pierres chaudes, soufre cristallisé et mares de boue qui travaillent à des températures entre 40 et 100 °C. La boue est l'élément qu'il est important de comprendre avant d'arriver. Sa couleur vous indique sa provenance. Le brun signifie que la mare a une profondeur de deux mètres, le gris signifie un mètre, et le jaune indique qu'elle a été prélevée en surface et est pleine de soufre. Elle n'a pas d'odeur. Tu choisis l'argile que tu souhaites, tu la retires de la mare bouillonnante, et tu attends quinze ou vingt minutes pendant qu'elle sèche et te rafraîchit. Après cela, il y a le spa extérieur : des bains de boue, un sauna et trois piscines thermales d'eau volcanique. La première étape de la journée, avant tout cela, est la cascade de Llanos del Cortez, où tu peux nager sous la cascade. L'entrée n'est pas incluse dans le prix : 7 $ en espèces pour les adultes, 4 $ en espèces pour les enfants. Déjeuner, puis une promenade modérée à travers la forêt tropicale, avec des ponts suspendus et trois autres cascades, le tout inclus. Apporte un maillot de bain, des chaussures de marche, des sandales, des vêtements de rechange, des jumelles, un appareil photo, de la crème solaire, un chapeau et de l'argent liquide. Le transport est assuré depuis les hôtels et les maisons de location de toute la péninsule de Papagayo, Playa Panamá, Playa Hermosa, Playas del Coco et Playa Ocotal.

Miravalles Volcano
The day takes in the smoke, the hot stones and the crystallised sulphur of the Miravalles volcano. The mountain is covered in rainforest, and the crater inside it is the only walkable one in Costa Rica. The first stop on the drive is Llanos del Cortez, one of the finest waterfalls in the country. The entrance is charged separately, $7 cash for an adult and $4 cash for a child, and you can swim under the water curtain if you bring a swimming costume. Next is the crater at Miravalles, with geothermal activity all around it. There is a volcanic mud bath and the hot springs before lunch, and afterwards a moderate hike through tropical rainforest, over hanging bridges and past three more waterfalls, all included in the package. The bubbling mud pools are holes full of clay mud and sulphured thermal water, at different temperatures: 80º, 100º and 200ºC (176º, 212º and 392ºF). The mud has no smell and comes in three colours, grey, brown and yellow, and the colour tells you the depth it came from. Brown means two metres down, grey means one metre, yellow means the surface, where the mud is full of sulphur. You choose the clay you want and take it from the pool yourself. It takes fifteen or twenty minutes to dry and cool you while you sit with the volcano in front of you. Skin comes out of it smooth. What to bring: swimming costume, hiking shoes, sandals, a change of clothing, binoculars, camera, sun cream, money and a hat.
