Die meisten Tagesausflüge zum Fuji beinhalten Verpflegung. Dieser hier bringt dich zuerst zum Arbeiten. Hōtō ist das Gericht von Yamanashi: dicke, flache Nudeln, von Hand gefertigt, in einer Miso-Brühe mit den saisonalen Gemüsesorten. Du bereitest deine selbst zu und isst sie dann, wodurch das Mittagessen von einer kurzen Pause zu einem Teil des Tages wird. Davor bringt dich die Kawaguchiko-Schifffahrt den Berg Fuji über das Wasser vor dir und der Oishi-Park platziert Blumen davor. Nach dem Mittagessen besuchst du Oshino Hakkai, wo die Teiche von Quellwasser vom Berg gespeist werden und die Wege ruhig sind. Der letzte Stopp ist der Arakurayama Sengen Park, wo der fünfstöckige Pagode mit dem Fuji im Hintergrund steht. Während der Kirschblütenzeit kommen zahlreiche Fotografen, und die Stufen nach oben sind ohnehin einen Aufstieg wert. Ein englischsprachiger Reiseleiter begleitet die Tour, und eine Audioführung ist ebenfalls auf Französisch, Italienisch, Spanisch, Deutsch, Portugiesisch und Ukrainisch verfügbar. Die Einschreibung erfolgt um 7:20 an der LOVE-Statue in Shinjuku, die Abfahrt ist um 7:30, und die Rückkehr zum Bahnhof Shinjuku ist gegen 17:30, vorausgesetzt, der Verkehr ist günstig. Storniere mindestens 24 Stunden vor der Abfahrt, um eine vollständige Rückerstattung zu erhalten.

    Oishi Park looks across the lake at the mountain, with flowers out in every season.

    After the lake, the Hōtō cooking. The dish is handmade thick flat noodles in a miso broth with seasonal vegetables, and it is what Yamanashi eats when the weather turns. Making it together is half the point.

    Oshino Hakkai is a set of ponds fed by spring water off Mount Fuji. The water is clear enough to see the bottom, and the paths between them are quiet.

    The five-storey pagoda with Mount Fuji behind it. In cherry blossom season it fills with photographers. The steps up are the price of the view.

  8. Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower

    Final drop-off at Shinjuku Station around 17:30, traffic permitting.
