La FortunaDrei Parks an einem Tag, mit frühem Start, damit die Gruppe jeden Park vor den größten Touristenmassen durchquert. Die Gruppengröße wird klein gehalten. Es beginnt mit einer Abholung vom Hotel und einer 30-minütigen Fahrt zum Park von 1968, wo ein zweieinhalb Stunden langer Spaziergang zum Fuße des Vulkans Arenal führt. Der Weg ist größtenteils eben und das Gehen ist einfach, bis zum letzten Abschnitt, der über das trockene Lavafeld der Eruption von 1968 führt und felsig wird. Dort hält der Guide an und erklärt, was der Vulkan bewirkt hat. Als nächstes steht der Wasserfall La Fortuna auf dem Programm: 70 bis 75 Meter hoch, und etwa 500 Stufen hinunter und wieder zurück. Am Fuß des Wasserfalls gibt es sichere Stellen zum Schwimmen. Das Mittagessen ist ein "casado", das typische Gericht aus Costa Rica, mit frischem Fruchtsaft, im Restaurant neben dem Büro des Anbieters. Mistico beendet den Tag. Zweieinhalb Stunden auf 3,2 km, überquerend 6 Hängebrücken und 10 feste Brücken, wobei der Vulkan im Hintergrund zu sehen ist. Dies ist ein tropischer Wald, daher ist Regen wahrscheinlich und es lohnt sich, etwas Wasserfestes mitzunehmen. Affen, Faultiere, Amphibien, Reptilien und Vögel sind alle da, um sie zu fotografieren, wenn der Tag gut verläuft.

Arenal 1968 Volcano View & Trails
The tour opens with a hotel pick-up and a 30-minute drive to the 1968 Arenal Volcano Park. From there it is a two and a half hour walk to the base of the volcano, fairly easy and mostly over flat ground. The target is the dry lava field left by the 1968 eruption, where the trail turns rocky. The group stops there while the guide goes through the history of Arenal.
La Fortuna Waterfall
La Fortuna Waterfall drops 70 to 75 metres. Getting to the bottom means around 500 steps down, and the same 500 back up afterwards. There are safe places to swim in the fresh water at the base, which is what most people come down for.

The stop is the casual eatery next to the office, for a traditional Costa Rican casado with a fresh fruit juice. Which flavour depends on the day.
Arenal Hanging Bridges
Two and a half hours of walking at Mistico Hanging Bridges, over a 3.2 km trail that crosses 6 hanging bridges and 10 fixed ones. The views take in the volcano and the forest ecosystem around it. This is tropical forest, so rain is a real possibility: bring something waterproof.
